NEW STUDENTS

Welcome! I'm thrilled you'll be joining us this year! 

All new students - with the exception of those looking to prep for interviews and/or forensics enrichment - are required to take "Public Speaking 101." 

Using videos, worksheets and exercises, we will focus on verbal communication, non-verbal communication (hand gestures, body language, facial expressions, eye contact, posture, etc.), pace, volume, tone and pitch. Students will also learn how to: prepare/calm down before speaking, organize their thoughts, generate conversation starters, speak extemporaneously and present speeches/TED Talks/etc. 

This course can be conducted 1:1 or with a group of up to five similarly-aged students, which allows for a $20 or $40 discount per student, depending upon group size. It will take approximately six sessions/weeks to complete, though that may vary given the student/group.

Classes are divided into three age groups: 3-5th, 6-8th and 9-12th, and are held at my home near Cedar Hill School in Basking Ridge. The first session is a la carte, and there is no consequence for choosing not to move forward - you know your child best! However, weeks two - six must be paid for in advance. Please refer to my FAQ page to ensure you understand the cancellation policy. Additionally, I will give you plenty of notice if I feel we will need more sessions to complete the program, and we can chat about how you'd like to handle it.

Once Public Speaking 101 is complete, parents have the option to continue education, where we will focus on meticulously polishing the skills that we learned in PS101. 

EXISTING STUDENTS

I can't wait to see you again and hear about your summers! When we hop back into it this year, we will briefly recap what we learned last year with a few worksheets and activities. Then, we'll continue polishing those skills with new material. 

There is no need to enroll in Public Speaking 101. You will, however, use the same form (below) to choose a date/time for class. Please note there is a small increase of $5 per student per hour.

This year, all classes will be 55 minutes and conducted at my home near Cedar Hill School in Basking Ridge on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. With few exceptions, no classes will be held on Thursdays, Fridays or the weekends. However, I will always be available via email or text during the week.

MONDAYS:

3rd-5th grade: 4:30p

6th - 8th grade: 6:00p

9th - 12th grade: 7:00p

TUESDAYS:

3rd-5th grade: 6:00p

6th - 8th grade: 7:00p

9th - 12th grade: 4:00p

WEDNESDAYS:

3rd-5th grade: 5:00p

6th - 8th grade: 4:00p

9th - 12th grade: 6:00p

Prompt drop-off (no more than 5 minutes early) and pickup (no more than 5 minutes late) are appreciated! All classes are 55 minutes.

I believe that public speaking is a holistic journey. As an educator, it's my job to create a foundation of skills your student can build upon for the rest of their life. Yet as a parent, I understand it's our job to not just reinforce these skills at home, but find additional ways for them to be implemented. That's why I'm inviting you to short, 40-minute webinars each month that will offer insight into what we as parents and educators can do to nurture these skills as our children grow, and how we can prepare them to become well-adjusted adults.
